From the moment buyers choose their home and homesite, there’s a sense of excitement and anticipation as they imagine their future life in a new space. Personalizing the home at the design center brings a creative, hands-on thrill, while watching the home take shape during construction makes the process tangible and rewarding. Overall, the process is collaborative, timeline-driven (often around 8–11 months), and focused on turning a buyer’s vision into a completed home, culminating in the joy and satisfaction of moving into a place that truly feels like their own.

From choosing a home and homesite to personalizing finishes and watching it take shape, every step brings the joy of creating a space that’s uniquely yours. Step 1: Choose Your Home & Homesite

Step 2: Personalize Your Home at Our Design Center

This is where you get to make your house feel like home! Now you can start the process of personalizing your new home. After selecting your exterior style choices, you’ll proceed to the Design Studio, where our design experts help inspire and guide you through our curated interior design products and selections. We partner with popular brands to suggest fixtures, materials and colors to make your home an individual reflection of your style. Can’t wait for a meeting? Step 3: Pre-construction Meeting

Meet your Superintendent and New Home Consultant to learn about the construction process, review your color selections, final house plans, and get an overview of the in person meetings that will take place at key milestones once construction begins.

Step 4: Construction Begins

Woohoo! The construction begins! Thompson Homes will obtain all necessary permits needed and prepare your homesite for construction. Your home’s position is staked on the lot and repped for the foundation. You’ll start receiving updates at key milestones, keeping you informed every step of the way.

Step 5: Pre Drywall Walk-Thru

Providing transparency about how we build your home is important to us – we want you to feel confident in your home and how it was built. At your pre-drywall tour, your construction superintendent WILL WALK YOU THROUGH THE HOME AND SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS BEHIND YOUR WALLS.

Step 6: Buyer's Orientation Meeting

As construction wraps up, it’s time for the finishing touches. The Buyers Orientation Meeting (BOM) occurs within one week of your closing and is your opportunity to review your homes features, learn about the home’s warranties, and to join us as we conduct our Quality Inspections ensuring every detail meets Thompson Homes’ high standards. We will identify adjustments or corrections needed to ensure everything is perfect for move in day.

Step 7: Prepare Settlement & Set Closing Date

Congratulations! Today is the best day! This is the day you officially become a homeowner and receive the keys to your brand new home. You will meet with your title company to go over closing documents, receive your new home warranties and formerly take ownership so you can start moving in!
