We are a third-generation family-owned business that values passion, hardwork, and community. Since 1948, Thompson Homes has been a cornerstone of Western Kentucky—building not just homes, but communities that enrich lives and stand the test of time. For more than 75 years, we’ve been guided by a simple yet powerful mission: to create places that truly make life better for the people who live, work, and grow within them.

From the very beginning, when brothers Bill and Jim set out to build their very first home in the Cherokee area on Owensboro’s west side, they recognized that a home is more than a structure. It’s where families gather, where milestones are celebrated, and where everyday moments become lifelong memories. That understanding has shaped everything we do—from the neighborhoods we thoughtfully develop, to the homes we carefully craft, to the workplace we cultivate for our team.

With more than 30 communities developed and over 4,000 homes built, Thompson Homes has helped shape the landscape of the tri-state area. Each home we build is likely the biggest investment a family will ever make—and we don’t take that lightly. Our History

Our roots date back to 1948, when brothers Bill and Jim Thompson built their first home in the Shawnee park neighborhood. Their qualities and standards soon defined what Thompson Homes is known for today, over half a century later. When you stand on a newly built floor of a Thompson Home, there's a 70 year foundation of builder craftsmanship beneath your feet. Today, Thompson Homes tradition of excellence now extends into its 3rd generation and continues to carry and unmatched passion to meet and exceed your expectations.
